UPDATE 1-SunTrust quarterly profit rises on one-time gain

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 19 - SunTrust Banks Inc. , the seventh-largest U.S. bank, posted better-than-expected quarterly profit on Thursday, helped by cost cutting and a gain from selling a portion of its Coca-Cola Co. stock holdings.



Second-quarter net income for the Atlanta-based company was $673.9 million, or $1.89 a share, up from $544 million, or $1.49 per share, a year earlier.

Swiss Yogurt From U.S. Cows Spurs Fight to Save Cachet of National Brand

(Bloomberg) -- Thomas Minder's family-owned company
has marketed mouthwash using the white cross and red background
of Switzerland's flag for three generations, relying on the
country's reputation for quality, purity and reliability.

``Swissness in marketing consumer goods is absolutely
essential,'' says Minder, chief executive officer of Neuhausen,
Switzerland-based Trybol AG. ``It's worth more than Coca-Cola.''

UPDATE 2-C-C Amatil lifts outlook; S.Korea talks continue

(Reuters) - Coca-Cola Amatil, 35 percent-owned by Coca-Cola Co. ,
also said negotiations over the sale of its South Korea
business, which has a book value of A$700 million , were continuing.




The company said it now sees first-half earnings before
interest and tax rising 12 percent, above a previous forecast,
due to strong sales in Australia and New Zealand. It had
previously forecast high single-digit growth.

Coke's Supporters, Cantor Fitzgerald's Critics, Chinese Banking: Timshel

(Bloomberg) -- Shares of Coca-Cola Co. are gaining
favor among Wall Street firms even as brokerage analysts show
more caution in their calls on U.S. stocks.

Citigroup Investment Research's Bonnie Herzog yesterday
made her first ``buy'' recommendation on Coke since she began
covering the company four years ago. The world's largest soft-
drink maker is poised ``to deliver more sustainable and
profitable growth'' with the help of acquisitions, she wrote in
a report.
