D.Post Q2 tops consensus, may hike FY goal after Q3

(Reuters) - BONN, Germany, Aug 3 - German mail and logistics group Deutsche Post stuck to its full-year earnings goal despite a 10 percent rise in second-quarter operating profit, boosted by its DHL express delivery and logistics units.



Post said it continued to expect 2007 earnings before interest and tax excluding one-off items of at least 3.6 billion euros , up from 3.51 billion last year. Group 2006 EBIT including one-off items was 3.87 billion euros.

German Benchmark Index Declines, Led By E.ON, Deutsche Post, ThyssenKrupp

(Bloomberg) -- German stocks dropped, led by E.ON AG
after a report said the world's largest utility by sales is
facing delays with a project in the Czech Republic.

Shares of Deutsche Post AG, Europe's biggest postal service,
and ThyssenKrupp AG, the country's largest steelmaker, also fell.

DAX Benchmark Rises; Postbank Jumps After Commerzbank Expresses Interest

(Bloomberg) -- Germany's benchmark DAX Index rose
for the first time in six days, led by Deutsche Postbank AG after
Commerzbank AG said the rival would be an ``excellent addition.''
MAN AG and Henkel KGaA also gained.

The DAX added 120.36, or 1.5 percent, to 7921.36. DAX
futures expiring in September increased 1.5 percent to 7998 at
5:51 p.m. in Frankfurt. The HDAX Index of the country's 110
biggest companies climbed 1.6 percent.
