UPDATE 1-UTAC jumps on bid news, analysts say offer is fair

(Reuters) - SINGAPORE, June 27 - Shares of United Test and
Assembly Center rose as much as 8.3 percent on
Wednesday after private equity firm Texas Pacific Group and
Asia-focused buyout firm Affinity Equity Partners offered to
buy the Singapore microchip tester.




UTAC shares hit S$1.17, a level last seen in February 2004,
and the stock was the most actively traded stock on the
Singapore bourse with more than 146 million shares changing
hands.

Carlyle, MBK Among Bidders for Taiwan's Unprofitable Ta Chong, People Say

(Bloomberg) -- Carlyle Group and MBK Partners Ltd.
are among private equity firms seeking to buy as much as 35
percent of Taiwan's unprofitable Ta Chong Bank Ltd., said three
people with knowledge of the matter.

Affinity Equity Partners and Japan's Orix Corp., which is
teaming up with buyout fund Longreach Group, may also submit
bids, the people said, asking not to be identified because the
sale process is confidential. The bidders are betting a revived
Ta Chong may become a target for a larger bank, they said.

Laureate accepts increased $62 a share offer

(Reuters) - The investor group, led by Laureate Chief Executive Douglas
Becker, includes Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., Citi Private
Equity, S.A.C. Capital Management and others.

Blackstone seen paying up on CMBS deal

(Reuters) - Blackstone-EOP's sale, backed by Equity Office Property, is currently being marketed to investors by underwriters Goldman Sachs, Banc of America and Bear Stearns ahead of its pricing in June, market sources said.




The offering would be the second largest deal in the CMBS market this year, after Wachovia Securities' $7.9 billion sale in March.
