Wall St bullish on media company Belo - Barron's

(Reuters) - It said Wall Street was bullish for Belo, a Texas-based
media company that owns 19 TV stations and four newspapers,
including the Dallas Morning News.




Last week, Citigroup Global Markets analyst Eileen Furukawa
raised her investment rating for Belo from "hold" to "buy" and
boosted her share price target from $19 to $25, the Barron's
report said. Belo stock closed on Friday at $22.22.

Unions seek gains with airlines healthier

(Reuters) - But labor experts question whether pilots, mechanics, bag
handlers and flight attendants will be able to take back a
measurable percentage of restructuring givebacks, even if
profits improve from a modest 2006.




The performance outlook for airlines this year has been
dimmed by softer demand, stubbornly high fuel costs, diminished
pricing power and expectations of intensifying competition.

Egypt Fertiliser to borrow $1.25 bln for new owners

(Reuters) - Egyptian Fertilisers Co. will borrow $1.25 billion to help its new owners, including Abraaj Capital of the United Arab Emirates, finance their $1.41 billion acquisition, Abraaj said on Sunday.

The company will sell five-year Islamic bonds to raise $400 million and borrow another $850 million from banks, Tom Speechley, executive director of Abraaj Capital, told reporters.

(Reuters) - CHICAGO, June 2 - Arsenic, the poison of choice
for many a murder mystery, can significantly extend survival in
patients with a rare form of leukemia, U.S. researchers said on
Saturday.




"It's a much smaller dose than you would use to poison
people," added Dr. Bayard Powell of Wake Forest University
Baptist Medical Center.

Virgin begins Kenya flights, vows to help elephants

(Reuters) - British entrepreneur Richard Branson landed in Kenya on Saturday on Virgin Airlines' maiden flight to the east African country and vowed to help protect some 2,000 elephants threatened by encroachment.

The Virgin chairman said the endangered beasts were hemmed in by small farms mushrooming around Mount Kenya, stifling centuries-old migratory routes and sending some crashing across homesteads, threatening lives and damaging crops.

Protesters converge on German port for G8 demo

(Reuters) - Anti-globalisation protesters converged on the Baltic port of Rostock on Saturday to demonstrate against the policies of the world's leading industrial countries ahead of a Group of Eight summit next week.

Police expect up to 100,000 demonstrators to pack the city and to attend 40 separate gatherings planned over the weekend in protest against the G8 summit to be hosted by German Chancellor Angela Merkel in nearby Heiligendamm.

China companies deny role in tainted toothpaste

(Reuters) - "It is not allowed. There are restrictions limiting its use," said an employee at Suzhou City Jinmao Daily Chemicals Co. Ltd., when asked about diethylene glycol .




The employee, reached by telephone, declined to be named and said he was new at the company and was not too familiar with its exports.
