US STOCKS-Futures slip; DuPont, Texas Instruments weigh

(Reuters) - In one of the heaviest reporting days on the calendar,
DuPont, the No. 2 U.S. chemical company, posted quarterly
profit that missed Wall Street's forecasts. For details, see

DuPont joins Caterpillar among components of the
Dow industrials whose profits have fallen short of estimates,
raising concerns that equities can sustain their steady climb
that drove the Dow to 14,000 for the first time last week.

Japan's Nikkei 225 Average, Topix Falls; Exporters Drop on U.S. Earnings

(Bloomberg) -- Japanese shares dropped, paced by
companies that rely on the U.S. market, after Caterpillar Inc.
said its profit dropped on lower North American sales. Exporters
such as Honda Motor Co. and Komatsu Ltd. declined.

Investors also refrained from betting heavily on stocks
before the upper house election, which will be held on July 29.
The Nikkei newspaper reported yesterday Japan's ruling coalition
may lose its majority in the election, citing its own poll.

US indexes sink as Google, Caterpillar falter

(Reuters) - U.S. stocks fell on Friday, with the Dow knocked off its 14,000-point perch and the Nasdaq down more than 1 percent, after bellwether stocks Caterpillar Inc. and Google Inc posted disappointing earnings.

Caterpillar, the maker of heavy construction equipment, said quarterly earnings fell more than expected due to a sharp drop in sales of diesel truck engines and weakness in North American construction. For details, see ID:nL20191126.

14,000 milestone, after bellwether stocks Caterpillar Inc.

US STOCKS-Indexes climb on factory growth, M&A buzz

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 2 - U.S. stocks kicked off the
third quarter on a high note on Monday, boosted by
merger-and-acquisition activity and data showing stronger
manufacturing growth in June even as price pressures eased.




Economically sensitive stocks, such as heavy equipment
maker Caterpillar Inc. and industrial conglomerate
United Technologies Corp. , were some of the session's
leaders after the Institute for Supply Management posted a
surprising gain in factory activity.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Fall; DuPont, Caterpillar, Chevron Shares Slide

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures dropped
before the release of a Federal Reserve report that may give
investors clues on the direction of interest rates.

Shares of DuPont Co., the third-largest U.S. chemical maker,
and Caterpillar Inc., the world's biggest supplier of earthmoving
equipment, slipped in Europe, pacing declines among companies
most sensitive to higher rates.
