U.S. Stocks Fall on Concern Higher Rates Will Hurt Profits, Takeovers

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks fell after the bear
market in bonds pushed yields to a five-year high and increased
concern that the pace of takeovers may have peaked along with
corporate profits.

AT&T Inc., JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. led
the Standard & Poor's 500 Index and Dow Jones Industrial Average
to their first decline in three days. All 14 real-estate
companies in the S&P 500 and every homebuilder retreated on
speculation higher yields foreshadow slower economic growth.

Most U.S. Stocks Rise on Acquisitions; Wal-Mart, Solectron Lead Advance

(Bloomberg) -- Most U.S. stocks climbed after
analysts upgraded Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and acquisitions boosted
energy and technology shares.

Wal-Mart had its best two-day gain since August 2002 after
at least four brokerages increased their ratings on the world's
largest retailer. Solectron Corp. jumped the most in the Standard
& Poor's 500 Index after the electronics manufacturer agreed to
be acquired by rival Flextronics International Ltd. Oil-related
shares in the S&P 500 jumped to a record, buoyed by higher crude
prices and the $6.5 billion sale of Dominion Resources Inc.'s
onshore oil and gas properties.

US STOCKS-Dow, S&P hit records on jobs and Wal-Mart

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 1 - U.S. stocks rose on Friday,
driving the Dow and the S&P 500 to record finishes, as strong
jobs and manufacturing data reassured investors about the
economy's health.




Wal-Mart Stores Inc. shares jumped 3.9 percent
after it announced plans for a $15 billion stock buyback and
